ACRA CSP Act: What When Why

 


Corporate Service Providers (CSP) Act 2024 was passed by Singapore Parliament, took effect on 9 June 2025 with CSP Regulations 2025.
 

CSP Act requires all Singapore business entities providing corporate services including mailing address, virtual office, accounting, tax, to register with ACRA as CSPs.

CSPs have to comply with obligations, including mandatory customer due diligence (CDD), verifying identities of controllers, ultimate beneficial owners and businesss or persons sanctioned by UN, FATF, MAS.

These are Singapore’s measures for anti-money laundering, countering the financing of terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (AML/ CFT/ PF obligations).


CSPs are legally required to obtain and collect NRIC, passport and or any other personal data or record, to comply with the CSP Act and ensure personal data protection.

Q1. I’m your old client, never have to do this?

CSP Act is now a law in Singapore. Not our choice or yours. These are now all regulated services. We just have to comply properly, keep our license so as to continue providing you and all clients; our good standards.

 

Q2. Can don’t fill up the form or upload proof?

Every CSP has to comply, ask, obtain personal and/ or company data, information such as countries and beneficial owners. Big difference is: We know well and ask only the necessary. According to new clients, what we need is less than 40% of their previous!

 

Q3. No recent ACRA profile. Waste S$5.50 for new one?

No waste but we accept free and simple alternatives!

3. Register of Members (Shareholders),
4. Your last record of ACRA business profile.

LLP/ Sole proprietorship:
Just email your last record of ACRA business profile, NRIC and/ or FIN and let us know if anything like the owner/ partners changed. We’ll prepare a Letter of Instruction (LOI) for position-holder(s) to sign digitally and solved!
 

Q4. I’m switching to MODETTI®, get from my previous service?

CSPs can’t do that, we are sorry. You know why you’re switching to MODETTI®. Let they-that past be and let’s do it simpler, proper from now on.
 

Q5. I come to your office and provide details in person?

Sure! You’re welcome to visit us at MODETTI® Head Office during business hours. The same simple form and basic data are required but you may have our Senior officers (ACRA Qualified Individual) assisting you to complete the easy process.

 

Q6. Most of the data you ask, was already given to ACRA!

ACRA makes the guidelines and requirements but does not ask or obtain all these required data. Instead of excessive data and sending very personal details and proof, MODETTI® requires only whats necessary to comply with CSP Act.

 

Q7. Why you don’t need my NRIC and proof of my NRIC address?

One of the many examples where new CSPs mis-interpret or demand excessive personal data and proof. New clients have often given such feedback but it’s subjective how a CSP conducts based on experience and compliance to CSP Act.

    2. Recent government issued Registration Profile/ Certificate,

Recent means: Date of document/ record is not more than 6 months ago, should be legible and in English.
